    Description

    Syracuse China Chantilly
From what we were told by the previous owners, these dishes came from the Bevo Mill Restaurant, built by August Busch (of Anheuser-Busch) in 1916. While these are not from that era, the Busch family owned the property up until In-Bev bought the AB Brewery in St. Louis in 2009. The story we were told is that in the 1980s, the restaurant was in decline and closing, and the contents went up for auction. A large set was acquired by the Bank Manager. After the bank manager's death, his widow asked close friends if they wanted the set. These friends are now downsizing themselves, and we were able to acquire much of the set. While we have no documentation to corroborate this story, nor are any pieces marked in any way Bevo Mill nor Anheuser Busch, the pattern of these plates on set tables in the restaurant can be seen in three pictures on a website called Lost Tables.
Seventeen piece set includes one luncheon plate, three fruit bowls, one soup bowl, four bread plates, four saucers, and four cups
No chips nor cracks nor crazing
Some heavy utensil marks and dark scuff marks (which would likely come off with a bit of powder cleanser and a bit of elbow grease).
Discolored scuffing on rims and underside bottom feet
    Luncheon plate: 9"
    Bread plates: 5-1/2"
Soup bowl: 9-1/4" diameter at rim, 1-3/4" tall
Fruit bowls: 4-3/4" diameter at rim, 1-1/2" tall
Coffee cups: 4-1/8" diameter at rim, 2-3/8" tall
    Saucers: 5-5/8"
